ARMINES - Association pour la Recherche et le Développement des Méthodes et Processus Industriels. Industrial Engineering Center (CGI)
The Association pour la Recherche et le Développement des Méthodes et Processus Industriels (ARMINES) is a non-profit research organization founded in 1967. The relationship of ARMINES with the engineering and management schools is governed by agreements, under the supervision of the Ministries of Industry, Defense and Equipment. In line with the nature of partnership research, a joint research unit managed jointly by ARMINES and its partner engineering schools where each body provides personnel, investment and operating resources according to the volume of contractual activity, will be involved in the project. With a turnover of around €50 million (2013), ARMINES is one of the leading French Research and Technology Organizations. ARMINES is also a member of EIRMA (European Industrial Research Management Association), EARTO (European Association of Research and Technology Organisations) and EARMA (European Association of Research Managers and Administrators). The Industrial Engineering Center (CGI) deals with collaboration of organizations through advanced decision supports systems and interoperability of Information System. Supply Chain Management is one of the major application field of these research works. Concerned tools and technologies are: Collaborative Planning, Discrete Event Simulation, Optimization, Performance Assessment, Web-Services, Enterprise Service Bus, Event-Driven Architecture and Complex-Event Processing.
IKERLAN - IKERLAN Technological Research Centre
IKERLAN Technological Research Centre (IKERLAN) is a private non-profit Technological Research Centre in the north of Spain, with a vocation for public service. IK4-IKERLAN is a point of reference for innovation and comprehensive product development (mechatronic systems). IK4-IKERLAN works closely with companies to improve their competitiveness, through the application of technological knowledge to develop innovative products and new tools and methodologies for implementation in design and production processes. It has a staff of more than 200 qualified researchers and engineers, with experience in interdisciplinary work and capable of tackling complex problems. From its creation 1974, IK4-IKERLAN has maintained close relations with companies from the machinery and capital goods, domestic appliance, electronics and computing, automotive and energy sectors; where IK4-IKERLAN's developments go until the materialisation of final products. As a centre of excellence in the transfer of technology, more than 800 R&D projects were completed so far in cooperation with companies developing new products and implementing customised systems in design and manufacturing processes.
UNINOVA - Instituto de Desenvolvimento de Novas Tecnologias
The Instituto de Desenvolvimento de Novas Tecnologias (UNINOVA) Research Institute is a multidisciplinary, independent, and non-profit research institute employing around 180 persons, located in the metropolitan area of Lisbon. It was formed in 1986 by the Faculty of S&T of the University Nova de Lisboa (FCT-UNL - www.fct.unl.pt), a group of industrial associations, a financial holding, and up to 30 companies. It is an active partner of Madan Parque (www.madanparque.pt), a business facilitator and accelerator, incubating Micro and SME's through several layers of support to entrepreneurial activity.
The main aim of UNINOVA is to pursue excellence in scientific research, technical development, advanced training and education. By working closely with industry and universities, technological innovations are transferred into profitable business concepts and, existing products further developed to match new industrial requirements. Due to its tight connection with the University and Madan Parque, UNINOVA has, since its foundation, hosted and supported the development several PhD thesis, as well as the creation of several successful spin-offs. Specialist areas of expertise of UNINOVA can be summarized as follows:

The institute is strongly committed to eEurope and to Lisbon Strategy being involved in many activities that support/enable the developments and actions towards the knowledge economy. UNINOVA has managed and participated in many national and international research programmes (ESPRIT, BRITE, IMS, IST, ICT, NMP, INNOVA etc) with experience in RTD in industrial systems interoperability, future internet enterprise systems, e-learning and e-training activities, and standards based activities (e.g. ISO TC184/SC4).
UNINOVA also coordinated the IMS SMART-fm framework creating a community (funStep community) with more than 700 members, and also supported the launch of several spin-off companies using research results.
The impact and results achieved through these activities is both on the academic and scientific community, with papers published in chapters of books, international scientific journals and conferences. These results are also in use by industrial research projects addressing interoperability topics, and have been source for further scientific and technical innovations towards seamless interoperable environments. These include standardisation communities. The work developed resulted in several international awards.
ITI - Instituto Tecnológico de Informática
The Instituto Tecnológico de Informática (ITI) is a Private Reference Technological Centre specialized in R&I in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). It was established in 1994 by a joint initiative of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), the Institute of Small and Medium Enterprises of Valencia (IMPIVA, now IVACE), and a group of companies in the IT sector. It has a team of 150 technologists (researchers and technicians), which develop their research activity in four main areas: i) Intelligent Information analysis (Pattern recognition, Context Awareness), ii) Future Internet (Cloud Computing, Software platforms, Interoperability, Smart Networks), iii) Cyber Physical Systems (Embedded Software, Real Time Systems, Mobile devices, Sensors) and iv) Enabling Technologies (Process Optimization, Computer Vision for Manufacturing), contributing to generate solutions for its three main Business Units: a) Intelligent manufacturing, b)Intelligent society and c) IT industry. ITI has participated in many national and international research projects in these fields, in collaboration with companies and institutions. ITI is member of national and European structures and associations related to the definition of research strategies or initiatives in different domains. Among these associations and structures can be highlighted the following: INTERPOP-VLab (www.interop-vlab.eu). LINA - Linagora Grand Sud Ouest
The Linagora Grand Sud Ouest (LINA) is a French SME. LINAGORA Grand Sud Ouest is a wholly owned subsidiary of LINAGORA (www.linagora.com). LINA is a French leading company in Open Source Software and a Professional Services Provider. With more than 120 employees, computer science engineers, R&D engineers and PhD students, LINAGORA is present in France (Paris, Toulouse, Lyon and Marseille), Belgium (Brussels) and the United States (San Francisco).
LINAGORA offers a variety of professional services: training, consulting, web agency, technical assistance, and engineering. Its novice support solution (OSSA, Open Source Software Assurance) is a unique solution on a French market that provides a full line of services available through our one-stop shop in order to secure the FLOSS oriented information systems. Recently Petals Link company has joined the LINAGORA structure and brought its know-how in the Enterprise Service Bus technology (Petals ESB), the business process modeling (Petals BPM), and the R&D involvement in research activities and projects (EU, French Funded, etc.) in the Service Oriented Architecture domain.
Linagora produces the following open-source software components: OBM, LinID, LinPKI, Petals ESB and Petals BPM.

CMS - Caixa Mágica Software
Caixa Mágica Software, (CMS) is a Portuguese SME company, the leader in various open source market segments in Portugal. CMS has developed firmwares for Android mobile phones and created an Android App store. It develops and markets the Linux Caixa Mágica distribution. CMS is actively involved with Linux & Research communities, hosting a popular annual Linux event (www.eventolinux.org) at Lisbon. Besides having participated in several EU-funded Research projects (see section below), CMS is participating in the development of the enhancements of the Portuguese Identity Card system towards making it pan-European compliant.
CMS has a background of working on Open-Source integration issues. It provides competencies in Linux systems, Package Management/Distributions, Algorithms/Solvers, Networks, Virtualisation and Android development. CMS also created and developed an App Market, Aptoide (www.aptoide.com).
The Linux software distribution "Linux Caixa Mágica" was born on October 2000, with the award of the Milénio Expresso 2000 prize to 3 researchers from ADETTI (Daniel Neves, José Guimarães and Paulo Trezentos). In 2004, it was necessary to do a full reorganization of the project structure to respond to the growing team, the developed solutions, and the adopted models. A spin-off company from ADETTI was then created, called "Caixa Mágica Software".
CMS aims to provide robust technological solutions based on Open Source software to the domestic and enterprise markets. It is proud of having more than 800.000 computers with its Operating System installed in Portuguese schools and student laptops, as well as 8.000 desktops deployed in Mexico. It has strong partnerships with the Portuguese Public Administration, the Portuguese Army, large hardware providers such as JP Inspiring Knowledge, Intel and Insys, it is involved in big European Projects (leader in some of them), and as such is now a global player.

Novatec S.L. Diseño e Indusrialización (NOVATEC) is a SME supplier for automotive exterior an interior plastic technical parts around the world. The headquarters are in Valencia (Spain) and NOVATEC GROUP has industrial plants in Spain, Morocco and Mexico. In 2002 it started up its first production plant in Valencia. On year later, NOVATEC achieved the certification ISO 9001. In Valencia (Spain) NOVATEC has 3 production facilities with 58 workers and 18 molding presses.

I-VLAB - Laboratoire Virtuel Europeen dans le Domaine de l'interoperabilite des Entreprises AISBL
The European Virtual Laboratory For Enterprise Interoperability (I-VLab) is a Belgian International non-profit making Association.
I-VLab pursues the objectives to develop the Research, to coordinate the Education Programmes, to promote the Innovation and the Research Transfer and to support the development of Standard in the domain of Enterprise Interoperability and associated domains as ESA (Enterprise Software and Applications: ERP, PLM, Decision tools…), Application of Future Internet (AFI).
I-VLab is composed of 60 partners representing 200 researchers and Engineers. The partners are grouped by regions: the regional group is called a "Pole". Today there are 9 poles spread from the North to the South of Europe with one pole located in China. The main activities of I-VLab are to provide to our partners information and knowledge, to provide support in the elaboration of research projects and to disseminate the results of these projects.
TECM - TecMinho
TecMinho (TECM) is one of the most ancient and most reputed knowledge transfer academic structures in Portugal. Created in 1990, by an initiative from the University of Minho, TecMinho has been supporting researchers in effectively transferring their research results on to the market, offering at the same time, as centralized access point to the knowledge of the University of Minho, a set of solutions to enterprises related with innovation, R&D, and intellectual property.
Throughout its 24 years of history, TecMinho has promoted more than 300 technologies of the University of Minho in national and international markets, has established around 400 R&D and licensing contracts with industry, has filed 160 patents, and has created 120 knowledge-based companies. In its knowledge transfer activity spectrum, TecMinho has involved more than 800 academic researchers, and around 5700 companies from different points in the globe.
In terms of international collaborations, it has successfully promoted and participated in several National and European projects linked with innovation, R&D, technology transfer, entrepreneurship, and IPR, under different EC Framework Programmes for Science and Technology, INTERREG, CRAFT, COST, etc.
TecMinho's quality standards have been recognized by Proton in 2006 with an award as Best Business Plan for an established Knowledge Transfer Office. Mines Albi hosts 3 research centers:
